TEZPUR: A day long workshop on Menstrual Health & Hygiene was successfully conducted at Panpur Higher Seæondary School, Panpur Village in Sonitpur district. The program was organized by Indian Grameen Services ([GS) under the HDFC - FDP HIGHLAND project to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene among schoolgirls.
The session was graced by Chitralekha Devi, Principal of Panpur Higher Secondary School, along with the school staff. Sumki Hazarika, Community Health Officer, led the discussions, educating the students on essential topics such as menstrual health, appropriate nutrition for girls, and proper hygiene practices during menstruation. The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, with many girls asking insightful questions related to menstruation and hygiene. The event saw a total attendance of 110 girl students, who benefited from the expert guidance and information shared during the workshop. This initiative by Indian Grameen Services (1GGS), under the HDFC FDP HIGHLAND project, is a commendable step towards empowering young girls with knowledge about their health. By addressing menstrual health openly, the programme aimed to break taboos, encourage better hygiene practices, and promote overall well-being among adolescent girls. This effort reflects the commitment of Indian Grameen Services (IGS) to improving community health and supporting young girls in leading healthier lives.
