Assam: Workshops on Green and Crime reporting organized in Bongaigaon

A workshop on Green Reporting, jointly organized by Journalist Union of Assam, Bongaigaon district committee and Aranyak, was held at Bongaigaon today.

BONGAIGAON: A workshop on Green Reporting, jointly organized by Journalist Union of Assam, Bongaigaon district committee and Aranyak, was held at Bongaigaon today.

Bijay Sankar Bora, Publicity Secretary of Aranyak, an NGO for environment and wildlife, spoke at the event. He said, “Environment is the biggest issue throughout the globe nowadays. That’s why, if you are reporting on any environmental issues, that means doing green reporting. It may be on local issues, but it is a matter of global concern. If the reporting is fact-based and contains high potentiality, it may lead you to a international platform.”

The program started with Lightening of the lamp by Diptimoyee Choudhury, MLA Bongaigaon, which was followed by a short inaugural meeting. Then, the first workshop on Green reporting was attended by several journalists from Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Barpeta, Chirang and other districts, along with students of Mass Communication department of Bongaigaon College. Bijay Sankar Bora and Pranab Goswami from Aranyak were present as resource persons.

In the second session, another workshop on crime reporting was held where Nienkhoei Sinson, Additional SP (Crime) attended as resource person. In the workshop, she detailed about different rules, regulations, and technique for crime reporting.
