DIBRUGARH: The Pratishruti Cancer and Palliative Trust will organise the World Cancer Day programme at Tinsukia College on February 2, 2025 in Tinsukia.

It is well-known that cancer poses a significant physical and social challenge and is the second leading cause of death. This issue is particularly critical in Northeast India and Assam.

“There is a pressing necessity to enhance awareness regarding the causes, symptoms, and treatments of cancer, to clear away the misconceptions surrounding the disease, and to offer social support and guidance for timely and suitable care,” said Dr Gayatri Gogoi, Honorary Project Director of Pratishruti Cancer and Palliative Trust.

Gogoi added, “Our cancer awareness initiative, ‘Transformation by People for People’, is actively engaged in this cause. Through these efforts, Pratishruti provides daily assistance to cancer patients and their families. The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘United by Unique’. World Cancer Day presents another vital opportunity to further this aim.”

“To promote cancer awareness, we are hosting a state-level program in Tinsukia on February 2 to observe World Cancer Day. Prominent physicians, distinguished individuals, and esteemed guests will also participate actively in this program,” Gogoi said.

In this connection, Tinsukia College, Indian Red Cross Society, Margherita Branch, Snigdha Borthakur Sonwarani Nyaas, Tinsukia Senior Citizens’ Welfare Society, Government Pensioners’ Association, Assam, Tinsukia Branch, Sakriya Silpi Mancha, and Women’s Study and Development Cell of Tinsukia College extend their support with enthusiastic involvement.
