JAMUGURIHAT: An Assamese poetry book, ‘Sabdasilpar Aakhara,’ composed by Sharanan Deva Nath, was released at a function held at the conference hall of Jamuguri Adarsha High School today.
The book release programme began with the illumination of a ceremonial lamp by Pankaj Saikia, headmaster of Jamuguri Adarsha High School, followed by a Borgeet performed by Bishalata Nanda Rajbangshi.
The book was formally released by Indra Prasad Saikia, retired professor, THB College; Bhaba Goswami, president of Baresohoriya Bhaona Committee; Ganesh Pathak, retired principal of THB College; Sahabuddin Ahmed, retired professor of THB College; Purna Kumar Sarma, Sahitya Akadami’s translation prize awardee; Geetanjali Mahanta, retired teacher; and Churamoni Sarkar, an assistant teacher, commonly. The programme was attended by Dr. Haren Saikia, Jiban Bora, Shahjahan Ahmed, Mayurakhi Mahanta Saikia, Abhijit Nath, Arup Saikia, Anjan Baskota, Bani Kanta Das, and Madhab Subedi, among others. A good number of speakers addressed the session.
All the proceedings of the session were conducted by Rupamjyoti Nath. Earlier to this, the poet forwarded a welcome address. Notably, ‘Sabdasilpar Aakhara’ is his second poetry book. ‘Sabdar Sonowali Boron’ was his first poetry book, published in 1999.
