Biswanath Launches HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign with District-Wide Outreach

A two-month-long Intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on HIV/AIDS was ceremonially launched on Wednesday in Biswanath district

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A two-month-long Intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on HIV/AIDS was ceremonially launched on Wednesday in Biswanath district at a special event held at Ashirbad Bibah Bhawan. The campaign, scheduled to run from August 13 to October 12, aims to raise awareness and promote preventive measures against HIV/AIDS among village communities, schools, and colleges across the district.

The campaign was formally inaugurated by Rakesh Deka, ADC (Health), who flagged off the specially-designed IEC Van, marking the beginning of the outreach efforts. The van will traverse the district, delivering key messages on HIV/AIDS prevention to remote and underserved areas.

The launch event was graced by several dignitaries and health officials including Dr Jogen Ch Bey, Joint Director of Health Services, Dr Nripen Saikia, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), and Paragjyoti Saikia (DPM). SDM&HOs, DME, DAM, DPC, AAM, DPC (HANS Foundation), BPM along with Medical Officers (MOs), ASHA Supervisors, ASHA workers, MPWs, students, and line departments also participated in the programme.

Cultural performances added a vibrant touch to the occasion. A song performance by Paragjyoti Saikia (DPM) and Dr Deva Kumar Bordoloi (Dental) captivated the audience, followed by a graceful Sattriya dance performed by Tisha Baroi, a class 10 student of The East Indian School.
