Bodo leaders mourn passing away of renowned artiste Fwilao Basumatary

Bodo leaders and artistes mourn the sudden death of renowned artiste Fwilao Basumatary, who passed away in Guwahati.

KOKRAJHAR: Many Bodo leaders and artistes expressed shock over the sudden death of noted artiste, singer, comedian, writer, and director Fwilao Basumatary who breathed his last on Tuesday night in a nursing home in Guwahati.

Chief of BTC Pramod Boro said that he was deeply saddened by the untimely demise of the popular actor. He said that Basumatary was a gifted artiste whose evocative performances enriched the cultural tapestry of Assam and BTR, and that his loss leaves a void that can never be filled. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and countless admirers.

President of ABSU Dipen Boro expressed deep sorrow over his untimely demise and said that the Bodos have lost a noted artiste and a true worker of the Bodo culture. He said that Pwilao Basumatary was an emerging artiste in the Bodo Film industry who was also dedicated to the cultural upliftment of the Bodos. He conveyed his heartfelt sorrow to the family members.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of DBHA Bijitgiri Basumatary said that the popular artiste had extraordinary talent and quality and made lots of contributions. He shared his deep sorrow with the family members.

It may be mentioned that Basumatary passed away on the night of April 22 at about 10 PM at Down Town Hospital in Guwahati. Born in 1970 at Baghazani of Laukhata, Shimla in Baksa district, Pwilao Basumatary was popularly known as ‘Basuda’ after he became part of ‘Beharbari Outpost.’ He had acted in a number of Bodo films, albums, and short films besides being an active worker of a Bodo cultural organization.
