KOKRAJHAR: Commemorating the celebration of 5th BTR Accord Day, the Chief of BTC Pramod Boro today morning led a huge bike rally from Kokrajhar to Kashikotra in Chirang district where the ABSU observes the BTR accord day. The bike rally was flagged off by the District Commissioner, Kokrajhar Masanda Magdalin Pertin from Government HS & MP School Playground. He began his rally from his residence to Government HS & MP School field. Boro was joined by hundreds of bikers from five BTC constituencies of Kokrajhar district.
The All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) observed the 5th BTR Peace Accord Day at Kashikotra Higher Secondary playground, Chirang district today. The BTR accord which was signed on 27 January, 2020 with the Bodo movement organizations ABSU, United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO), and four factions of the NDFB and Government of India and Government of Assam during the NDA-II Government completed five years today. The ABSU today reiterated the timely implementation of all clauses of BTR accord in a proper manner.
President of ABSU Dipen Boro said that peace prevailed in BTR and there has been no violations and bloodshed in the region anymore. He said that the ABSU was one of the major stakeholders of the accord and it has been supporting and monitoring the growth and developmental activities of the government of BTR as a responsible organization. He also said that many clauses of the BTR accord had been implemented and some major clauses are in the final stage for implementation which will need some more time.
The programme was attended by Chief of BTC Pramod Boro, Deputy Chief Gobinda Ch Basumatary, Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, Lok Sabha MP Joyanta Basumatary, and other distinguished dignitaries. He also said that the organizers have invited all the Bodo nationalist organizations in the grand programme under one umbrella with over 3000 delegates from- ABSU, Ex NDFB welfare Association, United Boro People Organization, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dularai Boro Harimu Afad, All Bodo Primary Teacher Association, All Bodo Women Welfare Federation, Ex Volunteer Force, Boro Cine Artistes Association, Boro Samaj, Boro department College Teachers’ Association, BTR Principals’ Council, BTR Region Tribal Sangha Co-ordination Committee, Boro Mothers’ Association, and Boro People’s Co-ordination Committee and former leaders of different organizations.
Meanwhile, Boro, while talking to media persons in the flag off programme of bike rally in Kokrajhar, said that the BTR Peace Accord ushered in an unprecedented era of sustainable peace, harmony, and integrity in our region, and the bike rally carried forward the message of peace and progress in celebration of this historic moment.
