BTC Contractors' Association demands release of pending bills

KOKRAJHAR: The BTC Contractors' Association on Thursday urged the council administration led by Pramod Boro to release the pending bills against the completed schemes and projects as early as possible, saying that most of the contractors of the region were disappointed due to non-release of fund.

Talking to media persons in Kokrajhar, the secretary of BTC Contractors' Association, Bikram Daimary said they called on the Principal Secretary of BTC, Anurag Goel on Wednesday to discuss regarding the pending liabilities for solution and submitted memorandum demanding early release of bills. He said the Principal Secretary assured to look into the matter after comprehensive audit and policy on liabilities. He said the contractors did not understand the comprehensive audit but hoped that something would happen for release of fund. He also said that the Principal Secretary told them to carry out thorough inspection of works and assured to seek additional fund from the State Government to meet the liabilities.

Daimary said they had nothing to say regarding cancellation of bills for incomplete works and projects but they wanted release of pending bills against completed projects. Replying to a question, he said that around Rs 2,500 crore liabilities were pending since 2014. He expressed hope that the bills would be released in the days to come.
