TINSUKIA: In an impressive programme held at the premises of G S Lohia Girls’ College on Monday, Surjit Singh, the founder Principal of Budding Buds Sr Sec School, unveiled the bust of Gauri Shankar Lohia, the visionary founder, in the presence of dignitaries, trustees of Shree Kanya Pathshala Trust, students, academicians and GB members. The Shree Kanya Pathshala was established in 1946 to uplift girls through proper education. The event marked the felicitation of septuagenarian Surjit Singh whose contribution was immense in building the institution, recalled many speakers. The day-long programme also witnessed a colourful dance drama on girl education synchronizing with gradual transformation of Kanya Pathshala to GS Lohia Girls’ College rendering education step-wise from primary to PG education.
