KOKRAJHAR: The CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro, on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of Bihuram Boro Bhawan in the premises of the office of Udalguri district Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) in the presence of Deputy CEM Gabinda Chandra Basumatary.
Boro in his speech said that the bhawan in the name of a dedicated former Secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Bihuram Boro, would be a vibrant hub for Bodo literature, culture, and community spirit. He said that the Government of BTR had been giving due recognition and honour to the great Bodo leaders who dedicated themselves for the foundation of the Bodos in different fields. He added, "The statues of great Bodo personalities and mentors have been installed in various places, community halls, stadiums, knowledge centres, awards and cinema halls etc. to remember and honour their outstanding contributions." Boro said that Swrbang Subung Bihuram Boro was also a great leader who wholeheartedly dedicated his life for the development of Bodo language and literature. He also said that the Bihuram Boro Bhawan in Rowta would be a centre for Bodo literature and culture.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was also joined by BTC EM Dr Nilut Swargiary, MCLA Sanjay Swargiary, General Secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha Nilo Kanta Goyari, and other dignitaries.
It may be mentioned that Swrbang Subung-Bihuram Boro was a notable figure in Bodo literature and culture. As the former Secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, he played a significant role in promoting the Bodo language, literature and cultural heritage. His contributions have helped preserve and develop the rich cultural identity of the Bodo community, inspiring future generations to appreciate and celebrate their roots. Boro passed away on September 27, 1990. He was a renowned writer, intellectual and former General Secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, serving for three consecutive terms. His contributions to the Bodo language and literature are immense and unparalleled.
