BISWANATH CHARIALI: In a significant step towards fostering skill-based education and research, Chaiduar College, Gohpur, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahabahu Fisheries Pvt Ltd today. The MoU was signed by Dr Kishor Singh Rajput, Principal of Chaiduar College, and Dr Mohini Mohan Borah, Head of the Department of Zoology, on behalf of the college, with Anup Sharma, Managing Director of fishery farm.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr Rajput emphasized the importance of vocational and skill-based education, citing national guidelines such as the NEP, UGC, NAAC, and RUSA, which advocate for programmes aligning with socio-economic development.
The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial needs. The key objectives include facilitating fieldwork, student projects, internships, joint research, fish breeding, ornamental fish rearing, aquaculture, fish feed production, workshops, seminars, and fisheries awareness programs. Through vocational training and hands-on workshops, the partnership is expected to inspire entrepreneurship among the youth and equip them with industry-relevant skills.
Anup Sharma highlighted the pressing issue of the demand-supply gap in fish protein in India and underscored the untapped potential for development in this sector. He assured the audience that the combined expertise and resources of Mahabahu Fisheries and the Department of Zoology would provide valuable exposure to students and the public, enhancing their practical understanding of fisheries management.
