COCOMI Silchar Demands Defence Ministry Action on Missing Udharbond Resident in Manipur

Silchar : Reacting strongly on the mysterious disappearance of Kamalbabu Singh, a resident of Udharbond from the military establishment in riot-torn Manipur, the Silchar chapter of the Coordination Committee on Crisis of Meitei Manipuri (COCOMI) demanded the intervention of the defence ministry for tracing out the missing person. On November 25, Kamalbabu, a construction labour went out to the 57th Mountain Division of the Indian Army located at Leimakhong in Kangpokpi district in Manipur and since then he was traceless. Kamalbabu’s wife Bela Rani and their minor son along with their relatives staged a dharna at his in-law’s village at Nagdirgram in Cachar’s Sonai. They demanded immediate intensification of the search operation to trace out the missing person. Meanwhile on Saturday, the COCOMI in a charter of demands sought the intervention of the Defence ministry. The Silchar chapter of the influential body of the Meitei Manipuris further demanded transparent and regular updates to the family and the public regarding the progress of the search operation. The COCOMI also appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure safe return of Kamalbabu.
