LAKHIMPUR: Mising Agom Kebang (MAK) has opposed the State Government's decision to introduce the Mising language as bridging language or Material language in the lower primary schools of the State. Notably, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Kumar Pegu raised a proposal to introduce the Mising language as Bridging language in the Budget session and the proposal was granted without any debate.

Regarding the issue, the activists of the Gogamukh Banke Mising Agom Kebang (MAK) took to the streets with silent protest on Friday. By staging the protest, the organization demanded the State Government to introduce the Mising language in the LP schools as medium of teaching, to stop alleged conspiracy hatched to destroy Mising language, and to introduce the Mising language as medium of education as per National Education Policy.

The protesters said that they would never accept the language as Bridging language. Gogamukh Banke Mising Agom Kebang president Keshav Chunkrang and secretary San Kumar Panging were among those who were present in the protest programme. The protesters demanded the Education Minister to introduce the Mising language as medium of education at the earliest.
