Deshbhakti Diwas celebrated in Dhubri to honor patriot Tarun Ram Phookan

DHUBRI: Deshbhakti Diwas was celebrated on the occasion of the death anniversary of great patriot, Tarunram Phookan, under the auspices of Dhubri district administration in collaboration with the Dhubri District Information and Public Relations department at Dhubri Circuit House Conference Hall on Monday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuran Haloi, District Information and Public Relations Officer Snigdha Rani Das, Lecturer of the Assamese department of Dhubri Girls’ College Juin Das, Lecturer of the English department of Rangamati College Imdad Hussain, senior journalist of The Sentinel newspaper Bijoy Kumar Sharma and officials, along with students, teachers, and guardians participated in the celebration.

The event began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and offering of floral tributes to the portrait of patriot Tarun Ram Phukan. Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuran Haloi inaugurated the programme and explained its objectives. Juin Das from Dhubri Girls’ College delivered a speech on the life and contributions of Tarun Ram Phukan. She also recited poems and writings authored by Tarun Ram Phukan, captivating the audience.

Following this, Imdad Hussain from Rangamati College elaborated on India’s freedom struggle, highlighting Tarun Ram Phukan’s role in the Independence Movement and presenting detailed information on his life and work.

Senior journalist Bijoy Kumar Sharma also spoke about various aspects of Tarun Ram Phukan’s biography, providing comprehensive insights and facts.
