SIVASAGAR: On the occasion of the first Monday of the month of 'Shravan', a large number of devotees thronged at historic Shiva Dol in Sivasagar on Monday. Hindus have been believing that the month of 'Shravan' is the birth month of Lord Shiva. On this occasion, the historic Shiva Dol of Sivasagar along with different parts of the country, also witnessed a gathering of countless devotees since early morning of Monday. There is a belief that worshipping Lord Shiva on the first Monday of the month of 'Shravan' easily fulfils one's desire and this faith has been prevalent for ages. Therefore, hundreds of devotees were seen waiting in long queues to offer prayers to Lord Shiva with offerings like milk, water, Bel leaves, etc. from early morning. The devotees were happy and excited as it was after two years that they got to worship in the holy month by visiting the Shiva Dol, as there were restrictions on gathering and visiting religious places due to the surge of Covid-19.
