Biswanath Chariali: The Government of India has initiated two focused programmes aimed at empowering tribal communities across the country—Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA). These programmes are designed to set defined targets and integrate services and infrastructure in tribal regions.

As part of this initiative, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs will launch a special campaign titled “Dharti Aaba Abhiyan - Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camps” from June 15 to June 30. The campaign aims to ensure the delivery of personal entitlements directly at the grassroots level through camps organized at village or cluster levels.

The services provided under the campaign will include issuing Aadhaar cards, ration cards, Ayushman Bharat cards (PM-JAY), caste and residence certificates, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), PM-Kisan benefits, Jan Dhan accounts, insurance coverage (PMJJBY/PMSBY), social security benefits such as old age, widow and disability pensions, employment and livelihood schemes (MGNREGA, PM Vishwakarma, Mudra Loans), and services under women and child welfare schemes (PMMVY, ICDS, immunization), among others.

In Biswanath district, the campaign will be conducted during the same period. To ensure smooth and effective implementation, a review meeting was held on Friday at the District Commissioner’s office. The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey, and attended by Biswanath MLA Pramod Barthakur and Behali MLA Diganta Ghatowal.

During the meeting, DC Ngatey emphasized that the campaign marks a significant step toward achieving an inclusive and empowered tribal India, aligning with the vision of the Pradhan Mantri-JANMAN and Dharti Aaba initiatives. He called for the cooperation and active participation of the public to ensure the campaign’s success.

The district administration has planned to conduct four awareness camps daily on designated days through the concerned departments to ensure the availability of all listed services in tribal villages.

The meeting was also attended by Liza Talukdar, CEO of Biswanath Zila Parishad; Dhruvajyoti Das, Co-District Commissioner of Behali; along with other officials from various departments.
