KALAIGAON: An awareness and benefit saturation camp, namely “The Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan” was officially inaugurated on June 15 at the Bishnu Rabha Cultural Complex in Bhergaon, under the Bhergaon Development Block which will be continued till June 30. It was organized by the District Administration of Udalguri and this initiative is part of a nationwide outreach effort spearheaded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
This formal inauguration marked the launch of a 16-day long district-wide campaign which will run till June 30, aiming to saturate the delivery of welfare benefits and boost awareness among the tribal population across all blocks of Udalguri district. Daily camps are being organized at designated Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) locations to provide on-the-spot registration, scheme awareness, and query resolution services.
The inaugural event saw robust participation from over 300 attendees, including citizens and representatives from more than 12 government departments. According to DIPRO of Udalguri, each department set up dedicated help desks to guide individuals through the process of registering for welfare schemes and understanding eligibility criteria. Informative presentations were delivered to highlight the full spectrum of central and state-sponsored benefits available to tribal communities.
As part of the day’s activities, key benefits were distributed to eligible citizens too. These Dharti Abhiyan programmes included the issuance of caste certificates and MGNREGA job cards, along with various enrolments such as new entries under the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) and the Government Accidental Insurance Scheme (GAIS), Aadhaar enrollments, distribution of MGNREGA job cards, and new enrolments under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the programme, traditional performances celebrated the heritage of the tribal communities while an interactive session encouraged participants to share personal stories and experiences with welfare schemes like building trust and promoting community engagement.
