DHEKIAJULI: A profound wave of sorrow swept across the Swahid Nagari Dhekiajuli following the demise of eminent dramatist and cultural stalwart Maheswar Sharma at the age of 93 on Thursday evening. Revered throughout the Dhekiajuli Co-District for his lifelong devotion to performing arts and social upliftment, Sharma breathed his last leaving behind a remarkable legacy deeply woven into the cultural fabric of Assam.
Widely admired as an accomplished stage performer, script creator, production mentor, literary personality, recitation expert, public speaker, and committed social activist, the Late Sharma occupied a distinguished place in the artistic arena of Sonitpur district. He was also recognized as the lone artiste pension recipient from Dhekiajuli, symbolising decades of dedication toward theatre and cultural enrichment.
His departure has created an irreplaceable vacuum within the dramatic and literary circles of Dhekiajuli. Artistes, intellectuals, theatre enthusiasts, and citizens from all walks of life expressed heartfelt grief over the loss of the veteran cultural icon.
