DIBRUGARH: With much enthusiasm, the DHSK College, Dibrugarh, is all set to host a two-day National Seminar on Orality and Bharatiya Darshan. The Folklore Society of Assam, in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of DHSK College, Dibrugarh, is organizing a two-day National-level seminar on Orality and Bharatiya Darshan from January 24th to 25th, 2025 at DHS Kanoi College.
This prestigious event will bring together academicians, researchers, and scholars to explore various aspects of Orality and Bharatiya Darshan, emphasizing their cultural, philosophical, and literary significance.
The seminar will be inaugurated by Professor (Retd) Madan Sarma from the department of English and Foreign Languages, Tezpur University. The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Sujay Kumar Mandal from the department of Folklore, Kalyani University, a renowned expert in the field.
Dr Bhim Kanta Baruah will grace the occasion as the chief guest. The seminar will also witness the inauguration of the peer-reviewed journal Jana Kristi, a significant platform dedicated to folklore research and scholarship. The journal will be inaugurated by Professor Kandarpa Kumar Deka, former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, Nagaon, on the first day of the seminar. This seminar aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and promote innovative approaches to folklore studies.
Researchers from across the nation will present papers, exchange ideas, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge in this field. In addition to the keynote speakers and invited dignitaries, about 20 esteemed delegates from the Folklore Society of Assam have consented to participate in the seminar as special guests of DHSK College. Their involvement will enrich the discussions and contribute to the exchange of knowledge in the field of folklore studies. All arrangements for the seminar have been meticulously planned and executed by DHSK College under the visionary leadership of the college’s Principal Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia. The commitment of the college administration, faculty, and staff is set to ensure a well-organized event that promises to provide an engaging platform for all participants.
