GUWAHATI: A speeding car caused multiple accidents in Assam's Dhubri, injuring several people and creating chaos on the streets. The incident occurred when a Maruti Suzuki 800 (registration number AS-01AB-3729) lost control and collided with multiple vehicles.
Eyewitnesses stated that the car, carrying four to five occupants, was moving at a dangerously high speed. It crashed into several vehicles, including a three-wheeler goods vehicle, causing significant damage.
Among the victims, Ashok Das, son of Bhajan Das from Ward No. 3, Balurchar, suffered severe injuries and was promptly taken to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
After causing destruction, the car fled the scene but was later found abandoned in Jhagrarpar. Authorities identified its owner as Nazimul Mollah from Ward No. 9, GTB Road, Dhubri.
This reckless act sparked outrage in the town, prompting residents to protest at Dhubri Sadar Police Station, demanding swift action. Authorities have launched a manhunt to track down the culprits, and the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a horrific road accident took place late last night in Chandrapur’s Gobardhan area, claiming one life and leaving two others critically injured. The deceased, identified as Ratan Das, had been traveling with his siblings, Rupali Das and Bipul Das, in an e-rickshaw when the tragedy struck.
According to eyewitnesses, the e-rickshaw had been returning home from a hospital when a speeding, unidentified vehicle crashed into it from behind. The impact was so severe that Ratan Das was thrown onto the road, leading to his instant death. Rupali Das and Bipul Das suffered critical injuries and were rushed to Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
