DIGBOI: Digboi Refinery on Wednesday conducted a high-intensity mock drill on simulating a bomb threat at the premises of the AOD Administrative Building to enhance emergency preparedness and industrial safety. The drill held significance in view of the nation’s upcoming Independence Day celebrations as the oldest operating Digboi Heritage Refinery has been posed with security threats earlier.

Meanwhile, the drill, which commenced at 5:00 PM with the report of a suspicious bag, involved the mobilization of various agencies including CISF, AISF, Sixth Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army, AOD Hospital, Electrical department, and Fire & Safety.

The simulated bomb threat was successfully neutralized, demonstrating coordinated action and ensuring the safety and security of refinery personnel and infrastructure. A debriefing session at 5:45 PM included a discussion on Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), their mechanisms, potential threats, and safe handling techniques.

However, the significant review session involved all participating stakeholders reviewing the execution of the drill. Significantly, constructive feedback was shared, and key takeaways were noted to further strengthen the refinery’s preparedness and response capabilities.

The Bomb Disposal Unit of Laipuli Army base conducted an awareness programme for stakeholders on explosive mechanism, Dos & Don’ts, etc. where employees of Digboi Refinery also participated.
