HAFLONG: In sync with the rest of the districts in Assam, Rabha Divas was observed to mark the death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha on Friday in the Haflong headquarters of Dima Hasao district by various departments and district administration.
The event began with the Kalaguru’s Rabha Songs, which were relayed through the fixed loud speaker system while later, a branded vehicle playing the Rabha Sangeet moved around Haflong town, covering locations near schools and other educational institutions.
The office of the Additional Director of Information & Public Relations Hills, Haflong, also organized a meeting at the office premises offering homage to the legendary cultural and literary icon whose remarkable impact on the art, culture, literature, and intellectual domain of Assam is immeasurable.
Similarly, Rabha Divas was also centrally celebrated at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office. The programme began with floral offerings to the portrait of Bishnu Prasad Rabha by the officers and staff of the district administration. District Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das addressed during the programme and spoke at length about how multifaceted genius Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha was and how his life, achievements, and contributions to Assamese culture, literature, music, dance, and social reformation continue to inspire generations till date. A live stream of the celebration at the state level was also witnessed during the programme at DC Conference Hall.
