SIVASAGAR: In a significant move to boost public awareness and participation in the Central Government’s flagship scheme “Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana,” the Sivasagar district administration organized a review and awareness meeting on Thursday at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional District Commissioner Geetalee Dowarah.

The meeting aimed at increasing mass awareness regarding the benefits and implementation of the Surya Ghar scheme among the district’s residents. The scheme, which promotes solar rooftop installations to provide free electricity to households, is part of the government’s broader effort to promote clean energy and reduce electricity bills for common citizens.

During the meeting, ADC Dowarah conducted a detailed review of the ongoing implementation status of the scheme in Sivasagar district. She emphasized the importance of mobilizing eligible households to take advantage of the government-provided financial assistance and subsidies under the scheme. Officers were directed to take proactive steps in informing the public about the procedures, application process, and long-term benefits of adopting solar energy through this initiative.

As part of the strategy to increase outreach, it was decided that awareness camps would be organized across the district. These camps will aim to educate the public on how they can benefit from the scheme, the eligibility criteria, and the nature of government support available. Through such initiatives, the administration hopes to ensure inclusive participation from both rural and urban households.

Officials present in the meeting included the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Sivasagar Zilla Parishad, representatives from various banks, all Block Development Officers, Assistant General Manager of APDCL, and heads of other associated departments. Each department was urged to work in coordination to streamline the implementation process and resolve any bottlenecks that could hinder public participation.
