TEZPUR: A meeting of the District Task Force focusing on the burden of vector-borne diseases and inter-sectoral coordination was held at the conference hall of the office of the District Commissioner, Sonitpur. The meeting was presided over by Additional District Commissioner (Health) Twahir Alam and attended by the Joint Director of Health Services, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CD), Additional CM&HO (FW), Superintendent of Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Deputy Superintendent of Tezpur Medical College and Hospital, Sub-Divisional Medical and Health Officers (SDM&HOs), all Block Primary Health Centres (BPHCs), and heads of various line departments along with the District Malaria Officer, District NVBDCP Consultant, Epidemiologist (IDSP), District Media Expert (DME, NHM), and other key officials and stakeholders.
During the meeting, updated case definitions for all vector-borne diseases were shared in order to simplify and standardize the identification and reporting of cases across all levels of healthcare delivery. The importance of coordinated action by all line departments was emphasized, with special focus on environmental control, surveillance, and community awareness measures. It was reiterated that early detection, inter-departmental cooperation, and sustained action were essential to combat the growing threat of vector-borne diseases in the district. All participating departments pledged their full support toward implementing a unified and long-term strategy to address this public health concern.
