Barpeta: In the name of pure drinking water, some businessmen are running a flourishing business. Many pure drinking water centres are coming up and the government has no control over them.
As a result, in the name of pure drinking water, consumers have to drink unsafe and impure water. In one such incident, a worm was found inside a 20-litre water bottle in Barpeta. Arsenic and iron have been found in the water in Barpeta. There is a government water supply scheme in Barpeta town but due to insufficient supply of water, the people of Barpeta have to buy bottled water from the drinking water centres. The people of Barpeta have alleged that the water is not purified properly and often insects can be found inside these bottles. They have urged the authorities concerned to address their drinking water problem.
