SILCHAR: Despite various initiatives like midday meals, the number of students in government schools showed a declining trend, maintained Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu and asked the officials to find out the reasons. Pegu, who was on a two-day visit to the Barak Valley, inspected various educational institutions and interacted with the students. In the backdrop of allegations regarding the supply of school uniforms, the minister, in clear terms, stated that the concerned authorities would strictly scrutinise the quality of the uniforms.
Today morning, Dr Pegu visited the Narsing HS School and interacted with the students. He was seen inspecting the quality of the uniforms. After attending the school prayer, Dr Pegu informed that almost Rs 7.5 crore was sanctioned for the construction of a new building of the prestigious institute.
Minister Pegu visited MM Balika Vidyalaya near College Road, where he conducted a detailed assessment of students’ proficiency in English, Bengali, and Hindi.
At Nabakumar MES in Srikona, Dr Pegu continued his commitment to educational excellence by engaging with students in subject readings and interactive assessments.
His afternoon visit to Silchar Polytechnic brought together alumni, faculty, and students in discussion about the future of technical education. He assessed the institution’s infrastructure and academic framework, underscoring the need to create better opportunities for students pursuing careers in engineering and vocational studies.
