Educationist and cultural worker Binod Chandra Das passes away in Baksa

BAKSA: Binod Chandra Das, a retired headmaster of Bhaoraguri Primary School, resident of Bhaoraguri village in Nagrujuli in Tamulpur subdivision of Baksa district, passed away at his residence on Tuesday due to old-age ailments. He was 81.

Born on October 3, 1939 in Dalahati, Barpeta, Binod Chandra Das wrapped up his education in Barpeta and started his teaching profession at Jawaharlal Nehru Sishu Vidyalaya in Rangiya from 1964 to 1975. Das also joined Rangiya Sangeet Vidyalaya as a teacher of Xatriya culture. In 1975, he was transferred to Chandanpur Primary School in Kawli in present day Baksa district. He again joined the Bhaoraguri Primary School of Nagrujuli in 1976 and retired from Bhaoraguri Primary School in 2002. He was former president of Nagrijuli Srimanta Shankardev Sakha Xatra for many years and became involved in the development of the xatra. He leaves behind his wife, a son, three daughters and a host of relatives. His demise was widely mourned.
