Effective Business model for Agro-Entrepreneurship discussed in Tezpur University

Tezpur University’s Department of Energy today concluded a successful three-day Capacity Building Workshop on Agro-Entrepreneurship.

TEZPUR: Tezpur University’s Department of Energy today concluded a successful three-day Capacity Building Workshop on Agro-Entrepreneurship. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from farmers, students, engineers, and community leaders.

The workshop, a significant step towards empowering local agricultural communities, provided participants with crucial insights into various aspects of establishing and managing successful agro-based businesses.

Speaking at the valedictory session as the Chief Guest, Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, highlighted Gandhi’s philosophy on rural economy, which placed self-sufficient and autonomous village communities as the bedrock of a prosperous India. He further said that ambition is good, but greed destroys nature. He urged all to adopt innovation that is nature-friendly.

Prof Sankar Chandra Deka, Dean, School of Engineering, explained the elements of becoming a successful agro-entrepreneur. He said that those who are venturing into the domain of entrepreneurship should not be afraid of failure.

Prof DC Baruah, Director, Internal Quality Assurances Cell and Coordinator of the workshop, said that Tezpur University is actively engaged in providing essential infrastructure and support to encourage value addition to farm products through sustainable business models. “This is being realized in Jhawani Village as part of the ongoing Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Smart Village Project, which aims to transform the village through technological interventions and community empowerment,” he said. Jhawani Village has been adopted as one of the five villages by Tezpur University under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Prof Sadhan Mahapatra, Head, Department of Energy briefed everyone about the outreach activities undertaken by the Department.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with other departments of the University, namely, Business Administration, Food Engineering and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Law, and Social Work.
