Guwahati: In a major security operation ahead of Independence Day, Assam Rifles personnel seized a large quantity of explosives and arms from Phinbiru village on the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border.

The recovered items, believed to be linked to militant groups ULFA (I) and NSCN (KYA), included 18 radio sets, four chargers, six bomb-making electric wires, a handmade pistol, 59 detonators, six primers, two bomb fuses, and 60 rounds of live ammunition.

The seized materials have been handed over to Assam Police. Authorities suspect the cache was intended for attacks during Independence Day celebrations.
