BARPETA: A Farmers’ Exhibition (Krishak Mela) was held at the Baradi Gaon Panchayat office in Barpeta district, Assam, on Wednesday, focusing on improving agricultural productivity through innovative techniques. The event was sponsored by CSS ATMA.
Addressing the gathering, ADC Jayanta Bora highlighted the significance of such platforms, stating, “This serves as a knowledge-sharing hub for agricultural scientists, officials from Agri and allied sectors, progressive farmers, and young individuals aspiring to take up agriculture as a profession.”
A key highlight of the event was the participation of National Farmer Innovative Award winner Sahadat Hussain from Katazar Pathar, Barpeta Road. Hussain, who was felicitated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in New Delhi on February 24, shared his experiences and insights with fellow farmers.
The meeting also included a felicitation ceremony for progressive farmers from the district, who, in turn, shared their experiences and success stories with the attendees. The exhibition was attended by Additional District Commissioner (Agriculture) Jayanta Bora, chief scientist Dr. Arup Kr. Deka from KVK Howly, DVO Pradip Das, DFO Bimal Sarma, and DAO Munindra Basumatary. Progressive farmers who have benefitted from the Department of Agriculture’s schemes also set up an exhibition showcasing their success stories.
