Five-year-old girl feared drowned at Katakhal river

HAILAKANDI: A five-year-old girl Tohida Yasmin Laskar is feared to have drowned at Katakhal river on Tuesday. The incident took place at around 1.30 pm at Rongpur North village under Hailakandi Police Station. Station Officer, Albert l Khobung said Fire and Emergency Services, SDRF team and deep divers from Karimganj district have rushed to the spot and a massive search operation is on to trace the minor girl feared drowned. Two other children were rescued by the villagers. The District Disaster Management Authorities here are urging the people living close to the river banks to keep a close watch on their children and to prevent them from going to the rivers in spate following recent drowning incidents of children.
