Flower pots distributed to shop owners by Kokrajhar DC

On the occasion of the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan, fibre flower pots with ornamental flowering plants were distributed to shop owners of Kokrajhar town

KOKRAJHAR: On the occasion of the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan, fibre flower pots with ornamental flowering plants were distributed to shop owners of Kokrajhar town as part of the beautification drive in the town. At a function held in this regard in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka ceremonially distributed the pots to the shop owners.

Speaking at the function, Deputy Commissioner Deka expressed her jubilant gratitude to be able to undertake an important programme on the birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan to beautify Kokrajhar town. She urged the authorities of Kokrajhar Municipal Board and Urban Development department to distribute at least two flower pots to each shop owner and to keep a close watch on their proper maintenance.

A total of 30 flower pots with various species of ornamental plants were distributed on the occasion by Kokrajhar district administration in collaboration with Kokrajhar Municipal Board and Urban Development department.

The Deputy Director and Council Head of Department of Urban Development said they had decided to distribute flower pots to 250 of 1,500 eligible shop owners of Kokrajhar town in the first phase as part of their ongoing beautification campaign. This is in keeping with the aspirations of the Chief Executive Member of BTC, Pramod Boro for city beautification.

The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Executive Officer of Kokrajhar Municipal Board, Deputy Director and CHD of Urban Development and a host of representatives of Kokrajhar Merchant Association.
