Silchar: Former chairman of Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) Dilip Nunisa, a graduate of Diphu College, who went underground and formed the militant group with 400 armed cadres, fought gun battle for 3 decades for independent state of Dimasas to be christened as Dimaraji, ultimately laid down arms and settled down for peace. He was not at all happy for the raw deal that he got from the Centre and the State. He joined BJP with the hope that he would get due recognition but that was not. Disillusioned, he quit the saffron party. He expected he would be honourably placed in the newly formed Dimasa Kachari Development Council. He was simply kept on tenterhooks and ignored.

Taking umbrage at the formation of the Council, Dilip Nunisa in a Whatsapp message said the former DHD cadres from plains who sacrificed so much for separate Dimaraji state should have been accommodated in the development council. Those who have found berths in the council have adopted surreptitious means to influence the decision makers. No mandatory discussion among all stake holders has taken place. The sentiments of the warriors and their sacrifice have no consideration, alleged Dilip Nunisa.

He also questioned the appointment of Nirmal Burman Khersa as chairman of the Council who has no idea to lead it. Nor has he vision and far sight to take initiative for the development and promotion of culture and language of the Dimasas living outside the Dima Hasao District. Moreover, as Nunisa said Nirmal Burman Khersa has no contribution towards their three decade long struggle. He added to say in the larger interest of the Dimasa community, the Council should be reset with good and experienced former DHD persons. This is the call from Halali Progressive Welfare Society based at Haflong, pointed out Nunisa.
