Former Hailakandi BJP president Kshitish Ranjan Paul dies

Paul was the president of the Hailakandi chapter of Red Cross and was associated with various organisations like VHP, Matri Bhasha Suraksha Samiti.

SILCHAR: Kshitish Ranjan Paul, former district president of Hailakandi breathed his last at a private hospital in Guwahati on Friday. He was 75. Paul left behind his wife and two sons. He was suffering from kidney disorder for a long time. Kshitish Ranjan Paul was a pioneer in the field of private education institutions in Hailakandi as he established an English medium private school in the district after his retirement from government school. He was the president of the Hailakandi chapter of Red Cross and was associated with various organisations like VHP, Matri Bhasha Suraksha Samiti.

Paul was the district president of the BJP for a long period. However he was ousted from the BJP as he contested the last Assembly election as an independent candidate after being denied the party nomination. The mortal remains of Paul were brought back to Hailakandi on Friday and his last rites were performed. Former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal mourned Paul’s demise.
