Silchar: Prof Bibhas Deb, the principal of the prestigious G C College, Silchar had been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Tripura’s Maharaj Bir Bikram State University. Apart from GC College, Deb is presently discharging as the in-charge principal of Cachar College too.
Bibhas Deb joined the GC College in 1992. He had been in the post of the principal of this premier institute since 2015. During his tenure GC College was awarded A grade by the NAAC. The Assam government had already declared that the GC College would be upgraded as a state university. Though the requisite notification had already been issued, the process of upgrading the college into an university was yet to begin. In this juncture, Deb had been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of an university belonging to another state.
Deb, in his reaction, said, he was overjoyed after being appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Maharaj Bir Bikram University of Agartala.
