GUWAHATI: Ahead of the GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) election, all the parties participating were seen massively campaigning in different parts of Guwahati and its wards.
On the last day of campaigning i.e. on Wednesday 20 April, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) holds a roadshow to collect support for the party candidates contesting in GMC polls.
The mass rally on Wednesday morning started from Sanaram Field in Guwahati's Bharalumukh area and ended in Ulubari crossing several municipal wards.
The rally was organized under the leadership of the national state-in-charge of Assam, Rajesh Sharma in association with state coordinator Bhaban Choudhury.
All the volunteers of the party and all AAP candidates contesting the upcoming civic polls took part in the rally from Bharalumukh to Ulubari.
Apart from this AAP National Executive, National political affairs committee member and Delhi MLA, Atishi Marlena also participated in the mass rally to garner support from the public for AAP candidates.
Marlena also holds the position of the adviser to the DCM (Deputy Chief Minister) NCT government, Delhi and is regarded as the person behind the education system transformation in Delhi government schools.
It may be mentioned that the Aam Aadmi Party after its remarkable success in the Punjab Assembly Polls is now making attempts to appear as an alternative to BJP and Congress in the upcoming GMC elections.
Earlier in the civic polls held in March, AAP gained maiden victory in 2 municipal wards in Assam's Lakhimpur and Tinsukia district and motivated by the last month's success the party is looking to expand its base in other northeastern regions.
Notably, the Guwahati Municipal elections are scheduled to take place on Friday 22 March and the results will be declared on the same day as informed by the election commission.
