GUWAHATI: A major milestone in India’s scientific journey was marked on December 3rd with the successful conclusion of the 10th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF 2024) at IIT Guwahati.
The four-day event, held from November 30 to December 3, was graced by Keshab Mahanta, the Minister for Science, Technology, and Climate Change, who attended as the chief guest, highlighting India’s continued dedication to advancing science, technology, and innovation.
Over 7,000 attendees participated in the festival, which included more than 25 different events, including more than 150 technical presentations and panel discussions. The main events were the student hackathons, scientific exhibits, and prominent talks on sustainability, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
One significant result of the event that CSIR Director General Dr. N. Kalaiselvi felt especially proud of was the "Guwahati Declaration" which aimed to promote India's scientific advancement. However, the event showcased contributions from over 400 professionals and also stimulated discussions about India's position in the global arena.
The event was collaboratively organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in partnership with CSIR to achieve the goal of making India self-reliant and competitive globally.
