SIVASAGAR: Gargaon College celebrated the International Happiness Day with great enthusiasm on Thursday to promote positivity and well-being among students. The programme was organized by the Department of Education in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Gargaon College. Inaugurating the programme, eminent academician and Principal of Gargaon College Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta spoke about the importance of happiness in life and shared valuable insights on how to cultivate happiness. He emphasized the need to focus on the positive aspects of life and to develop a sense of gratitude. Diganta Konwar, Vice-Principal of Gargaon College, was the special invitee of the programme. Dr Poli Konwar, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, moderated the programme while Dr Ratna Das, Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Education, delivered the welcome speech.
To add a touch of fun and excitement to the celebration, two special games were organized for the students. A ‘Tug of War’ competition was held for the boys, while the girls participated in a ‘Musical Chair’ competition. Dr Dilip Kumar Deka, Head of the Department of Geography, and Dr Pimily Langthasa, Head of the Department of Zoology, were invited as judges for the ‘Tug of War’ and ‘Musical Chair’ competitions respectively. Prizes were distributed to the winning teams at the conclusion of the programme.
