MANGALDAI: Following the publication of a news report in ‘The Sentinel’ on January 19 with the headline ‘Darrang Health Department is functioning without a Joint Director of Health Services’, the State Health Department awakening from a month long slumber, finally has posted Dr Nirmal Kumar Beria as the Joint Director of Health Services, Darrang vide an order issued on February 20.
It may be noted here that Dr Nirmal Kumar Beria was serving as the Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (Family Welfare) Darrang and was transferred on promotion as the Joint Director of Health (UIP) in the office of the Director of Health Services ( Family Welfare), Guwahati vide an order on December 22 of 2022. The post of the JDHS Darrang was lying vacant since December 31 following the retirement of the JDHS. Mangaldai Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia expressing his deep concern over the vacancy of the important post of the Joint Director of Health Services had taken up the matter with the Health Minister.
