HAFLONG: The Judima Festival Celebration Committee will organize the Gunjung edition of the Judima Festival at Gunjung from December 18 to December 28.
The Judima Festival, which began its journey from the year 2016 from Dibarai village, has grown in leaps and bounds and become one of the major events in the district. Abhijit Haflonbar of the Judima Festival Celebration Committee said that this time the festival was being organized at Gunjung and would be celebrated for three consecutive years at Gunjung. In the 10 days of the festival there will many events, including paragliding. Guests from various places of the State and neighbouring States are expected to come for the event.
The festival aims to put Dima Hasao in tourism map of Assam in particular and that of India in general by promoting tourism-related activities. As such, steps to promote the places like Jatinga-famous for the mysterious bird phenomenon; the Blue Borail Range which hosts the highest peak of Assam; the blue water resort of Umrangso which is also the roosting hub of the migratory bird Amur Falcon; the marvelous Panimur waterfalls also known as the mini Niagara of Assam; the twin Behendao Baiglai Waterfalls of Samparidisa hamlet; the historic Stone House of the erstwhile Dimasa Royalty at Maibang; neo-lithic structure (stone jars, other stone carvings and artifacts) at Hojai Dubungling and Khobak; Thuruk, the coolest place of Assam where crystal mists are formed during winter; and the heritage trekking along the old abandoned MG Line.
Besides, the Judima Festival will present cultural extravagance in the form of dance, music, ethnic cuisine, arts and crafts of the rich and colourful tribes residing in Dima Hasao district.
