Kamrup DC flags off mobile medical units to boost rural healthcare access

Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner, Kamrup, on Tuesday flagged off three advanced Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) from ITC ICML’s Guwahati factory in Kukurmara in Kamrup district.

BOKO: Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner, Kamrup, on Tuesday flagged off three advanced Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) from ITC ICML’s Guwahati factory in Kukurmara in Kamrup district. Each MMU is staffed with doctors, staff nurses, pharmacists, and community mobilizers.

The MMUs will deliver free, high-quality medical consultation, essential medicines, basic diagnostic tests, and referrals to patients requiring advanced care.

They will serve remote communities in Palasbari, Boko, and Chhaygaon, with a special focus on geriatric care and maternal health for pregnant and lactating women, providing doorstep primary healthcare to those most in need.

The ceremony was also attended by Dr Ajit Das, Joint Director of health services, Kamrup, along with Keshav Chadha, factory Manager, Maj Rupam Talukdar, Human Resources Manager, Ravi?Bansal, Senior Manager of rural health, and Sayan Majee, MSK–North East at ITC ICML.

While flagging off the MMUs, Deba Kumar Mishra praised ITC’s contribution to comprehensive, accessible healthcare for all segments of the community. He expressed hope that this initiative would significantly benefit residents in the remote areas of South Kamrup.
