Krishi Vigyan Kendra Observed World Food Day at Tezpur

Tezpur: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur observed World Food Day with the theme ‘Our actions are our future- healthy diets for a zero hunger world’ at Rupkuria L P School on Wednesday.

Dr Promod Ch. Deka, KVK, Head, in his inaugural speech explained the significance of World Food Day and encouraged the school authority to establish nutrition garden in the school campus in collaboration with KVK, Sonitpur. Farhad Ali, Head teacher of Rupkuria L P School, advised the students to eat indigenous fruits and vegetables and appreciated KVK, Sonitpur for showing interest in establishment of nutrition garden in the school.

“Malnutrition is a burning problem of today’s world. Balance diet has important role in protecting us from various diseases,” said Arifa M. Begam, SMS, KVK, Sonitpur. She also emphasized food security to fight against hidden hunger.

Idrish Ali along with other assistant teachers of the school actively participated in the programme. Morjina Begum, Ppesident of Napam Gaon Panchayat, emphasized about importance of fruits and vegetables in the daily diet and cleanliness of households and surroundings. More than 50 students and teachers participated in the programme.
