HAFLONG: The repeated disruption of railway communication between Lumding and Badarpur plunged thousands of passengers into uncertainty. Fresh landslides near Mupa halted train services, affecting patients, students, job aspirants, and many others who faced immense difficulties.
Several trains remained stranded at various locations, leaving passengers in a state of distress. People expressed frustration, alleging that rail authorities often overlook their suffering and fail to provide timely information about restoration efforts. Moreover, no alternative arrangements were being made to transport stranded passengers, exacerbating their plight.
Meanwhile, the Chief Public Relations Officer of NF Railway, in a press release, stated that trains running in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section got disrupted due to a landslide at KM 51/1-2 between the Mupa and Dihakho stations of the Lumding division. As a result of the landslide, the track was suspended until clearance of boulders and earth that fell on the track. Help desks were opened to facilitate passengers at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur, and Agartala stations.
As a result of the landslide, the following trains were partially cancelled, cancelled, rescheduled, and regulated as per the details given below.
Cancellation of trains: Train No. 15615 Guwahati–Silchar Express and Train No. 15611/15612 Rangiya–Silchar–Rangiya Express of July 7 and 8; Train No. 15616 Silchar–Guwahati Express of July 8 and 9; Train No. 15617 Guwahati–Dullabhcherra Express and Train No. 05638 Silchar–Naharlagun Express of July 7; and Train No. 15618 Dullabhcherra–Guwahati Express and Train No. 05637 Naharlagun–Silchar Express of July 8.
Partial cancellation of train: Train No. 15616 Silchar–Guwahati Express of July 7 will be short terminated at Badarpur and will remain partially cancelled between Badarpur and Guwahati; Train No. 12513 Secunderabad–Silchar Express of July 5 will be short terminated at Guwahati and will remain partially cancelled between Guwahati and Silchar; and Train No. 12501 Kolkata–Agartala Express of July 6 will be short terminated at Guwahati and will remain partially cancelled between Guwahati and Agartala.
Rescheduling of train: Train No. 13176 Silchar–Sealdah Kanchanjunga Express of July 7 has been rescheduled to start at 15:00 hours instead of 11:35 hours, and Train No. 14037 Silchar–Anand Vihar Terminal Express and Train No. 20501 Agartala–Anand Vihar Terminal Tejas Express of July 7 have been rescheduled to start at 6 am on July 8.
Regulation of trains: Train No. 12503 SMVT Bengaluru–Agartala Express of July 4, Train No. 13173 Sealdah–Sabroom Kanchanjunga Express, Train No. 01666 Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special, and Train No. 15642 New Tinsukia–Silchar Express of July 6 will be regulated suitably.
