Lekhika Sanstha confers 'Adarsh Matri Bota' to Bina Sarma in Dhubri

DHUBRI: Lekhika Sanstha, Axom conferred 'Labanya Hazarika Adarsha Matri Bota' (award) to a philanthropist woman activist of Gohpur, Bina Sarma at a function held here at Dhubri Police Reserve Community Hall on Sunday. The award was formally extended to her by the vice president of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Mrinali Sarma, mother of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the function, who attended the award ceremony as the chief guest. The award consists of citation, xarai, japi, a packet of books, blanket and cash of Rs. 25,000.

The function was also attended by Padmashri Surya Kanta Hazarika, son of Labanya Hazarika as the guest of honour while a brief sketch of vast life full of activities of Hazarika was presented by Jury Barua. On the other hand, vivid presentation of life and activities of Smt. Bina Sarma was delivered by Vice-President of Lakhika Sanstha,Axom and a noted liteteur, Smt. Niru Sarma Parajuliye. Vice-President of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Smt. Mrinali Sarma at in her speech recited the slokas on women from various religious books and said that the society would progress as long as it gives due honour to women.

In the function with hall-packed audience presided over by President of Lakhika Sanstha, Axom, Smt. Mridula Sarma, was also addressed , Head of Department of Political Science of Gauhati University, Dr. Jayanta Deb Sarma and Principal of B.N.College, Dr. Dhruba Chakrabortty while a souvenir of Lekhika Sanstha, was released by Head of Assamese department of B.N.College, Dr. Upendrajit Sarma.
