Lockdown violation: 3,870 people arrested; over 23,000 vehicles seized across Assam

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Monday informed that it has arrested 3,870 people across and collected Rs. 1,79,00,400 as fine across the State in the last 41 days for violating the lockdown norms.

In its daily report on the lockdown, the department said 1,838 cases have been registered for 2,621 incidents since the beginning of the restrictions.

Besides, 23,694 vehicles and 32 boats have been seized from various parts of the State during this period.

Out of the total vehicles, 21,440 are two wheelers, 1,880 are four wheelers and 332 are three wheelers.

The Assam Police is also taking a proactive step against fake news, the statement said 95 cases have been registered so far and 49 people have been arrested.

In addition to these, the Assam Police has also classified 22 places as containment zones.
