GUWAHATI: In an unexpected turn of event, a four-wheeler vehicle which was on rent has gone missing since the last 18 days, as a result of which, the car owner has been left in a tense situation.
The harrowing ordeal unraveled when a young man hailing from Manipur rented a Mahindra Scorpio SUV car bearing registration number AS 01FQ 0969 belonging to Rahul Bora, a resident of Guwahati.
The man who rented the Scorpio on April 1 claimed that he needed the SUV vehicle to embark on an extensive trip across the northeastern states of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
Much to the vehicle owner's despair, the Manipuri man identified as Thounaojam Samananda Singh has gone missing along with the vehicle which has also become untraceable.
According to verified GPS location, the missing vehicle was last pin-pointed to the Sonapur Toll Gate on April 5. Following that trace, the GPS device fitted inside the vehicle was intentionally removed, raising serious susipicions about any wrongdoing.
Distressed by the alleged act of stealing, Rahul Bora has now sought the assistance of the Dispur Police to help find his missing vehicle.
The cops have indicated towards the likelihood of the Scorpio car falling into the hands of a well-organized and planned syndicate. A thorough probe has been initiated to nab the accused and trace the stolen vehicle.
