Minister Sanjay Kishan visits tea estates to assess preventive measures; distributes masks

Dibrugarh: Minister of Tea Tribes Welfare Department Sanjay Kishan on Tuesday visited a section of tea estates in Dibrugarh district in order to monitor what preventive steps had been initiated by the tea estate managements to prevent the spread of coronavirus in their respective tea estates.

Inspecting the Moran, Sepon, Namrup, Naharkotia, Tengakhat, Roja Ali and Mottock Tea Estates in the district, the minister interacted with the labourers and management and reviewed the steps taken by them to arrange for hand wash and adherence of social distancing under COVID protocol. Accompanied by Chakradhar Gogoi, MLA of Moran LAC, Kishan also distributed masks among the labourers of both Moran and Sepon Tea Estates.

In the second leg of his visit, the minister along with Teros Gowala and Naren Sonowal, MLA of Duliajan and Naharkotia LAC respectively, visited Roja Ali Tea Estate of Tengakhat and Namrup Tea Estate and distributed masks among tea labourers. They also reviewed steps that had been taken by the respective managements to prevent spread of coronavirus. During his visit to Namrup Tea Estate, the minister had an interaction with the labourers who were engaged in tea plucking. Kishan later visited Mottock Tea Estate under Dibrugarh East Revenue Circle.

Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan distributed masks among tea labourers of Jamira, Durgapur and Ethewood Tea Estates in Dibrugarh LAC while Lahowal MLA Rituparna Baruah distributed masks in Bokpara, Ghuronia and Moncotta Tea Estates located in Lahowal LAC.
