NABARD reviews PACS computerization progress in Nagaon district

NAGAON: In order to review the status of implementation of the centrally-sponsored project for “Computerization of PACS,” the General Manager of NABARD, Assam RO, Qamar Javed, and the DDM, NABARD, Rajendar Perna, visited two pilot Gram Panchayat Samabai Samitees (GPSS) in Nagaon district viz. Duarbagori Cooperative Society Ltd. and the Bholaguri Satra Samabai Samity Ltd. on Monday.       

The ARCS, Kaliabor, Probin Borah, the BM of ACAB-Silghat branch, Niranjan Ch Das, representatives from national-level PACS Software Vendor, the System Integrator, etc. were also associated with the visit.  

Speaking on the occasion, the GM, NABARD, informed the participants that in order to bring in efficiency, accountability, transparency, uniformity, to improve the profitability of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS), and to make them self-reliant in tune with “Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan,” the Min of Cooperation (MoC), Govt of India, had initiated the ambitious project of Computerization of PACS, across the country. He further noted that being one of the important stakeholders for the development of the cooperatives in the country, NABARD is implementing the project under the guidance and directions of Min of Cooperation, Govt of India and NLMIC.

During the visits to both these GPSS, special training programmes for the farmer members & the BoDs of these GPSS were also conducted. GM, NABARD suggested to the BoDs to venture into diversified activities, so as to provide more benefits to its farmers. The ARCS, Kaliabor guided the participants regarding the importance of the initiative and assured to provide focused attention for completing the audit, at an earlier date. The participating farmers and the chairmen and CEOs of both the GPSS also expressed their views and wished for further growth of the GPSS with the support of all the stakeholders, including NABARD. The participants were also guided by the other invited dignitaries. Thereafter, based on the discussions with all the stakeholders, it was agreed that all the stakeholders should join hands to make both these PACS as ePACS by September 15.
