NAGAON: Nagaon police finally arrested one person in connection with the sensational murder of four persons of Garajan Pashim Amarakanda village under Garajan police outpost in November and also brought to light the entire episode on Monday here.
While addressing a press conference at the conference hall of Nagaon police reserve this evening here, Swapnanil Deka, Superintendent of Police, Nagaon informed that the arrested person identified as Amal Sarkar who is the younger brother of the victim Gangadhar Sarkar unearthed the entire gruesome incident of November 22.
As per statement of Amal Sarkar, Anupam Sutradhar, the fourth victim whose body was found along with the bodies of Gunadhar Sarkar, his wife Sarudhari Sarkar and younger daughter Jayasmita Sarkar inside their residence, was killed by Amal Sarkar himself, SP Deka added.
Briefing the gruesome incident, the senior police official said that Anupam Sutradhar killed Gunadhar Sarkar, his daughter Jayasmita Sarkar and when he killed his wife Sarudhari Sarkar, Amal Sarkar entered into the room where the gruesome murder took place. Having no option to resist him, Amal tried to pick him up. But Anupam Sutradhar was so ferocious that he leaped on him too. A scuffle between them took place during which Amal Sarkar finally murdered Anupam Sutradhar on the spot, leaving Amal Sarkar with a minor injury.
Amal Sarkar immediately left the spot and set his clothes with blood on fire to destroy the evidence, SP Deka said, adding that Anupam Sutradhar threatened the youth with whom Navasmita Sarkar’s marriage had been arranged for several times and warned him not to marry her since breaking his affairs with Navasmita Sarkar. Besides, two cross cases against each other were filed by both parties on 2022, SP Deka said, adding that during the investigation by a special investigative team of police till date, police had already gathered videos and others evidences in support of direct involvement of Anupam Sutradhar in killing of the three persons of the victim Gunadhar Sarkar’s family.
