National Educational Policy: Four Nalbari high schools upgraded to senior secondary schools

NALBARI: In a major move to the education sector, the Assam Government has started implementing the provisions of the National Educational Policy (NEP) in the State.

Under the policy, four high schools of Nalbari have been upgraded to senior secondary schools. Bagurihati High School, Madhya Kamrup Milan High School, Bhangnamari, PB Allia High School and Pub Kalakuchi High School are in the first upgradation list. A total of 113 high schools have been upgraded to Secondary Schools in the entire state.

As per government approval conveyed vide letter no. ASE.472/2021/143, dated. 14.09.2021, these high schools have been upgraded to Higher Secondary Schools on some conditions. There should not be any amalgamation proposal. There should be a minimum two additional classrooms available. There must be a minimum of four graduate teachers having postgraduate degree in minimum four core subjects. There shall not be any new post creation. No financial grant shall be given to the upgraded schools. The school must give undertaking that they will run the Higher Secondary classes with the existing qualified faculty having postgraduate degree.
